The Älvdalen church-barn, dating back to 1285, is Sweden's third oldest known timber structure.
The oldest one is in Ingatorp, Småland, dating to 1237. The building features medieval ornamentation around its doorways and some runic inscriptions on its timber walls. It served as a storage place for the priest's tithe from the farmer's harvest. Adjacent to it is a loft building that has been part of Älvdalen's rectory since 1585, with two rooms on each floor.
