Idre

Idre is a village in the north of Dalarna that will offer mountain adventures all year round.

On your way to Idre you will see Städjans characteristic silhouette in the distance, depending on the season the mountain will be embedded in winter white snow, summer greenery or the splendour of autumn colours. You will find hiking opportunities in abundance in both Städjan and Nipfjället and when you're there don’t miss out on a car ride down Trollvägen. It may surprise you to find golf greens here, but why not play a few rounds in the summer? If you want to experience an adrenaline kick Idre Fjäll’s cross country biking trails, pump track or skills area are perfect for you - there is something for the beginner and the more advanced rider alike. You might also meet some of the Sami people, Sweden’s native population. Idre is after all the southernmost Sami village in Sweden.

Regardless the season, there is opportunities for fishing, angling, caste or fly fishing in the area, you might also like ice fishing at the ponds, river or mountain streams. Storån flows out into Österdalälven and when the ice has formed, you are welcome to drill a hole on Burusjön and sit in the sun and ice fish from a chair. As soon as the cold strikes preparations begin for both the alpine skiing and for cross-country skiing. Idre Fjäll, Himmelfjäll and Fjätervålen together have over 60 downhill slopes and more than 125 kilometers of beautiful cross-country skiing trails in the winter. Of course, Idre offers plenty of other adventures in the snow other than skiing - such as dog sledding and snowmobiling!
