Boat building is an old tradition on Sollerön. The church boats were used in the past for transport to Mora church, when it was a church duty. Almost every village around Siljan had its own church boat.
The new church boats are clinker-built, 18.5 m long and have room for 10 couples and weigh about 1 ton.
