An exciting museum that shows the development in the treatment of mentally ill from the turn of the century to present day at the hospital grounds.
Mental care museum is a psychiatric history museum located on Skönvik area in Säter, the former Säters hospital area. The museum is delivering knowledge of 1900s psychiatric history. The preserved objects, photographs and patient work reflected changes in Säters hospitals during the 1900s up to the present day psychiatric care. The museum is housed in a care pavilion from 1912 and shows a reconstructed ward as it looked when the hospital opened.
