Tällberg around 7 km

Lovely variety with village, forest, meadow and views. Easily accessible trail close to where many people live and stay. Along the way you walk through one of Dalarna's foremost hay meadows, so peek in between the fence sturgeons.

Start and end location: Suggestions for starting places are the football field in Tällberg, Tällberg's camping or at Tällberg's school. A map of the trail can be found in the link below. Length: 7 km, circular loop. Trail markings: The trail is signposted but please read the trail description because in the village it can be difficult to find. Time: Approximately 2 hours. Severity: Medium, a lot of slopes with varying surfaces. Environment: The beach walk is lovely, as is the hike through the old-growth forest in the Digerberget nature reserve. The view from the log booth at the top of Digerberget is classic. During the high season, there are good opportunities to find food and drink near the trail. There are hotels, cafes and a campsite along the way. Trail description:If you start at the football field and walk the trail counterclockwise, you first go a little bit to the right on the road and then turn left on a path that passes Dalecarlia Hotel & SPA. On the way up to Digerberget, you can make a detour of 150 meters and see where Axel Munthe planned to build a house for his wife Hilda Pennington. It is a steep climb up to the Digerberget viewpoint, but once there, the view of Lake Siljan is well worth the effort. At the viewpoint there are tables with benches, barbecue areas and a log shed with a roof. After Digerberget, the trail continues out on a village road where you first turn left and then right. After a few hundred meters on a village road, you pass the nature reserve and turn left on a path that leads to Tälllberg's school. The signs are a bit difficult to see there, but if you take the direction of the forest on the top of the school, you will get back on the path. The path leads to Tällbergsgårdens Hotell where Siljan once again appears with its magnificent view. Here the trail passes Majstångsplatsen in Tällberg. Take the opportunity to open the door to the finely decorated phone booth and see what's inside! Then the trail continues down towards Siljan between the fences at Sturängen with its rich flora and fauna. See information on the signs next to the trail. At Siljan and Tällbergs camping, the trail turns left and continues along Siljan's beach and then finishes at the football field. Map is available via link below.
