You will find the culinary treasures around Dalarna. Turistgården in Särna, Åkerblads and Villa Långbers in Tällberg, Ryggåsstugan in Dala-järna, Frö in Sälen, Murboannas in Borlänge and Skedvi Bröd Restaurant in Stora Skedvi.

1. Frö, Sälen
While you are in Sälenfjällen, a visit to the restaurant Frö is a warm recommendation. They serve a set menu of about 8 servings, carefully composed according to season and availability. On the veranda you look out over the herb garden with the mountain as a backdrop. The menu and ingredients are personally presented to you at your table and each dish completely shines of craftsmanship as well as respect for the nature. Every detail is carefully considered and beautifully served, like a work of art with a story you will never forget.
Wild-foraged ingredients are combined with carefully selected producers from the local area and across Sweden, as well as seafood from Norway. They often fish themselves and whole animals are sourced whenever possible to be prepared from scratch on-site. Visiting Frö is an experience - make sure to book your table in advance!

2. Skedvi Bröd Restaurant, Stora Skedvi
Out in the countryside in the southern part of Dalarna you find Skedvi Bröd, a food destination well worth a visit. Here, tradition, present and future come together in a perfect community. The old factory houses the crispbread bakery, the market hall, the restaurant and the dairy. Just in time for summer, the courtyard and greenhouse will also open up. The restaurant offers carefully prepared and consciously sourced food. This means lovingly prepared dishes with respect for both producers and ingredients, which mainly come from the area. Of course, the crispbread is served in unlimited quantities to the restaurant's visitors. Be sure to try the ice cream made in the factory's dairy using milk from the farm just under a kilometre away.

3. Villa Långbers, Tällberg
In the charming village of Tällberg, you will find Villa Långbers which has a stunning view over the beautiful lake Siljan. Here, head chef Jakob Mathiasson and staff compose the menu based on seasonal ingredients and the passion for the local and authentic emerges in the dishes. Rättviksärt, a traditional grey pea from Rättvik, is an example that often occurs. A classic is the pea fried and salted as a snack with the drink. The drinks list includes both beer and gin from beverage producers in Dalarna.
Villa Långbers with its personal and welcoming atmosphere is perfect for a romantic getaway for two and a weekend trip with friends.

4. Ryggåsstugan, Dala-Järna
Ryggåsstugan is located in the calm serenity by the Lake Storsjön in Dala-Järna. The café has been awarded a listing in the White Guide for its delicious pastries, sandwiches and lunches. The craftsmanship and care for the ingredients are clear and together with the genuine atmosphere, this is truly a place well worth a visit. In the summer, the tables are set up at the water's edge, but there is also seating inside the cozy log cabin.
Many have found this gem to stop at when travelling through Dalarna on their way to the mountains, but it is also a destination for a full-day excursion. In the area there is the opportunity for both cycling, hiking and canoeing.

5. Åkerblads, Tällberg
At Åkerblads restaurant, they live by the philosophy "the taste experience is always at the center". With a focus on locally grown and selected according to season, the restaurant offers enjoyment at the table, whether you prefer a classic home-style menu or an internationally inspired plate. If you want to take the experience to an extra level, you can order the tasting menu with seven courses, carefully composed by the chefs. Also the drinks are of the highest quality and the hotel imports its own wines that are stored in the wine cellar.
Åkerblads Gästgiveri is a classic restaurant on Dalarna's restaurant map, but feel free to stay a few nights and experience Åkerblads Spa and Tällberg's surroundings.

6. Murboannas, Borlänge
In Murbo outside Borlänge you will find "the small dairy with the big heart". Here, the business is permeated by the love of cheese and the craftsmanship in the production. Several of the dairy's cheeses have been awarded both national and international awards. In the tranquil environment, there is a farm shop, restaurant and café. It is a given that several of the restaurant's delicacies contain cheese from the restaurant's own dairy and the menu is supplemented with dishes based on local ingredients. If you want coffee, homemade cakes are served and of course you can enjoy a cheese platter.
During the summer, several events take place in Murbo with exciting performances on the outdoor stage.

7. Turistgården, Särna
Nestled in the greenery of the forest and close to Fulufjället and Njupeskär is Turistgården located. Here there is a calm and genuine atmosphere where the authentic dining experiences are at the center. Turistgården is owned and run by the couple Mieke and Jacco Langelaar, who before they found their dream place in Särna, were housed on the Stockholm restaurant scene where Jacco worked for many years as a star chef at several Michelin-starred restaurants. In the summer, they open up their garden café where you can have coffee or lunch. Also take the opportunity to buy the freshly baked sourdough bread with you.
Book a stay at Turistgården with the meals included. Should you want to have breakfast or dinner without staying there, it is also fine if you book with them in advance.
