Bjursås Wilderness Trail 35 km

Here you get a magnificent nature experience that gives an insight into our fathers' harsh living conditions. Nice rest areas and viewpoints such as the charcoal burner's hut Flymyrskasernen and the mountain Ärtknubben which stretches 445 meters above sea level. Grill sausages and enjoy stunning views.

Starting location: Start at the illuminated track above Dössberget in Bjursås. Map can be found in the link below. Length: 35 kilometers. Trail markings: orange color of the trees and gray and blue signposts. Severity: Demanding as the trail is very hilly. Environment: The trail goes mainly through forest but you will also pass villages, mountain pastures and viewpoints. There are footbridges in several places, but it can be good to wear boots/boots when you pass some marshes. Foundation: Paths with roots and stones occur, partly bogs and wetlands depending on the weather. Shorter stretches of gravel roads and asphalt. Overnight: Overnight accommodation can be made in Flymyrskasernen, which is a charcoal burner's hut that you pass after about half the way. There is a fireplace and 12 bunks for overnight stays. Fänriksbo fäbod and Trugbo fäbodstuga are passed and are open to hikers. The cottages lack kitchen and sleeping equipment, so you have to bring your own sleeping bag and sleeping mat. Tents can also be good if the cabins are full. Facilities: Water can be refilled in Sörskog where there is also a toilet. Good to bring water. Parking: Parking, toilets and heated cabins are available adjacent to the start of the trail. Directions: From RV 69, turn towards central Bjursås and follow the road for about a kilometre. Then follow the signs to Dössberget and illuminated trails. Pass Dössberget's inn and follow the road past Bjursås riding club. Turn left up the hill at the sign for illuminated trails, where you will come to the parking lot and the start of the Wilderness Trail. Map is available via link below. The Wilderness Trail has been prepared by Falun municipality in collaboration with people from the area. The basic idea is that the trail should provide an opportunity for relaxation in a scenic environment and at the same time provide an insight into the harsh living conditions of the fathers.
