Around Rättvik Church, 87 church stables are preserved. The stables have origins from the 1700s and 1800s and were used for the parishioners' horses during church visits. Some stables are even older, with the oldest dating back to the 1470
The low gray church stables have received two stars in the "Guide Michelin". The stables' low doors suggest that horses in the past were much smaller than today's. When the horse was replaced by the bicycle and car in the early 1900s, the stables began to deteriorate. However, a rescue operation initiated in 1941 saved the stables for future generations. Today, the stables are listed as historically significant.
