Silverringen - Jönshyttan
In Jönshyttan, the silver ore mined at Östra Silvberg's mine was smelted. The activity here was lively already at the end of the 15th century. Today, there are traces at the site of the iron handling that was transferred to in the 17th century in the form of smaller slag heaps and foundation stones from buildings. The remains that exist show that there may have been five cabins along the river where the supply of forest and natural waterfalls was good. Until 1515, the rich silver mountain bailiff Stig Hansson lived at Jönshyttan in a large log house whose foundation stones still remain.
In the summer there is a rest area by the river with a table for a packed lunch, stop and enjoy the beautiful surroundings among forest and water.
Hike the medieval route along the river Jönshytteån where the silver melted in the cabins. If you walk over the small wooden bridge and follow the medieval road to the right, you come to a hill with a beautiful view of lake Ljustern.
For cyclists, the Ljusternrundan 11 km bike ride in the area is recommended.
