Part of the nationally significant industrial environment in Stjärnsund, Christopher Polhem's old ironworks. Built in 1779 by Polhem's grandson Reinhold Galle Rückerschöld. Guided tours, conferences, and refreshments available.
The large manor house serves as the centerpiece of the industrial setting created at Stjärnsunds bruk during the 18th century. The current manor house, along with several of its wings, was constructed in the late 1770s, a few decades after the major fire that largely destroyed the estate. The builder was Polhem's grandson, Reinhold Galle Rückerschöld, who decided to design the manor according to the new stylistic ideals of the time.
The manor is architecturally intriguing due to its very unique construction technique. Rückerschöld, much like his grandfather, was highly interested in various house construction methods and wrote articles in the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences' proceedings about his new ideas and methods for building houses. Much of the original interior from the late 18th century remains intact today, including high-quality wall paintings by Johan Asplind and around ten tiled stoves.
