Carl Larssons etsarstuga Tuppen

Carl Larsson purchased this eighteenth-century building in 1907, to enable his children to attend school in Falun. He added a large studio extension, which was used by a sculptor, Arvid Backlund. In 1908, he acquired the neighbouring property and used this cottage for his etchings.

The cottage came to be known as Mutter på Tuppen (roughly translated as "Dame on the Rooster", a name inspired by Swedish Folk singer, Carl Bellman) and was even adorned with a weathercock that incorporated an old lady sitting on top. Carl Larsson died here on 22 January 1919 and the cottage is now a museum.
