Bergalid

There used to be homesteaders' manors and estates at Bergalid and also an inn. Between 1900 and 1915, numerous beautiful houses were built in the district, including a mansion commissioned by Erik Johan Ljunberg, a manager at Stora kopparberget, and designed by an architect named Nils Nordén.

The house is the largest private residence in Falun. Nobel prizewinner, Selma Lagerlöf, also lived in the district for many years and, although her home has been demolished, her library and study have been recreated and are on view in the Dalarna museum.
