Hedemora

Founded in 1446, Hedemora is the oldest city in Dalarna and the only medieval town in the region. The town centre offers charming shops and cafés alongside well-preserved wooden houses, a beautiful cobblestoned square and the Theatre Barn – the oldest building of its kind in Sweden.

Just outside town, Stjärnsund invites you to explore Christopher Polhem's 18th-century ironworks and Husbyringen, a 60-kilometre nature and culture trail for hiking and cycling, with many interesting and historic places to stop along the way. Hedemora also has a proud motorsport heritage and still draws enthusiasts to the legendary stadium Motorstadion.

Events

Hedemora offers a wide range of events in music, culture, food and drink, that attract both visitors and locals.
