Experience two mighty waterfalls in the lower reaches of the Fjätälven River. The reserve also includes old forests up towards the Kryptjärn. The forest near the falls is always moist from the mist created when water cascades down the slopes.
The power of the falls was undoubtedly an asset but also posed challenges, especially for timber floating. From 1861 to 1902, major forestry companies cleared the waterway for log transportation along the river, up to the confluence of Lill- and Storfjätan. Traces of sawmill and logging activities are now nearly gone.
Fishing is highly popular and regulated by the Särna-Idre Fisheries Management Association. Here, you'll find trout, grayling, whitefish, as well as minnow and burbot, and occasionally brook trout, perch, and pike.
Fjätfallen has long been a beloved destination. Close to the parking lot, there's a path along the water, a shelter with a grill area, and an outdoor toilet.
