Norn Museum - Old Warehouse

The large red building opposite the chapel was in olden times called the storehouse because it was used to store supplies that the factory workers needed throughout the year. In summer, there were hardly any roads, only paths between Hedemora and Norn, so goods could only be transported here in winter by sled. Once a month, the factory clerk came, and people could come to make their withdrawals.

In today's Norn Museum, housed in the old storage building, the observant visitor can spot white marks on the walls. These are, in fact, the bookkeeper's notes regarding what and how much a family has taken out or purchased in terms of essentials like salt, sugar, grain, or clothing. The museum contains a wealth of old artifacts, including items used at the ironworks, forges, and in homes over several centuries. The oldest items come from Mossbo-Albert Johansson of Mossbo, Prästhyttan, who was a direct descendant of the first settler in Norn.
