Malibambo

Sollerön is home to a revered local saint named Malin. In the 14th century, the pandemic known as the Black Death reached Dalarna and Sollerön, prompting the inhabitants to flee westward. Among them, young Malin attempted to escape the plague; however, she paused at Rossbergs fäbodar to care for the ailing. Unfortunately, Malin contracted the disease and soon after passed away.

Legend has it, Malin is interred next to a rock in Malibambo, a name that translates to Malin's church. A sense of peace envelops this spot in the midst of a pine forest. Currently, it serves as a sanctuary for worship services, masses, meditation, and yoga. Visitors often find joy in ringing the bell. A nearby campfire site, overnight cabin, and spring enhance the area which is located along the Siljansleden trail. To get there, head towards Gesundaberget. Turn right at the shooting range and venture deep into the forest. After about 10 km, Malibambo appears. A path from the parking area guides visitors directly into Malibambo.
