Carl and Karin Larsson because love is everything

This year's exhibition at Konsthallen Kvarnen tells the story of Carl and Karin Larsson about their love of art, family, home, nature and life.

Carl Larsson's poor upbringing was marked by great challenges, but also by a lot of love from his mother and grandmother. He lost his first family, but knelt on in the courage of despair, as he himself described it. Instead of giving up, he chose life there and then, by the black waters of the Seine. Karin Bergöö's curiosity and desire to create took her out into Europe, to study art in Paris and the Grez artists' colony. There Carl and Karin met. Together, they came to create the all-art work Lilla Hyttnäs in Sundborn, a home where art, colour, form and life were united in a way that still fascinates today. Over time, the couple's free interior design style became almost synonymous with the image of Sweden. In the dining room at Lilla Hyttnäs are the words: Love one another, children, for love is everything.
