Vasaloppsleden Eldris - Mora 9 km
Eldris, VasaloppskontrollenHike from Vasaloppet's last checkpoint to the finish in Mora. Easy to hike terrain.
Start and end location: You start at the Vasaloppet checkpoint in Eldris and you finish under the Vasaloppet motto "In the footsteps of fathers for future victories" on Vasagatan in Mora.
Length: 9 km.
Trail markings: Symbol for hiking with the text "Vasaloppsarenan Vasaloppsleden". NB! There are three different trails: hiking, biking and skiing. Stick to the right symbol! Orange color with hikers in picture.
Time required: 2 hours.
Severity: Easy to navigate, flat terrain.
Environment: Forest paths, lovely forest roads, cozy gravel roads. The landscape is forest, and cultural land.
Facilities: Along the trail there are shacks, groups of tables and benches for rest and outdoor toilet next to cabin. Water is available at Eldriskontrollen's Vasalopp control (summer time). Barbecue area at the cottage.
Solar cell installations and the possibility of charging e.g. mobile phones, GPS, cameras etc. are available at all overnight accommodation along the trail.
Overnight: Overnight cabin are available in Eldris. The cottage has eight beds - bunk beds with galon mattresses. The cottage is open all year round, not bookable. Equipment in the cottage: unsawn firewood, saw, axe, bucket, broom and dustpan are available on site. There are no pans in the cottage, you have to bring your own. Dogs are not allowed in the cottage and smoking is not allowed.
Cost of overnight stay in the cottage: SEK 100 per bed and night. Young people under the age of 17 stay for free. Payment is made via Swish, number 123 1960 384, recipient Stiftelsen Vasaloppsleden.
Grocery store: Shops that are open during the day are located in Mora.
Parking: Parking is available in Eldris near the overnight cabin. Park your car in Mora - see Mora municipality's website. Walk back and forth or get pickup at either location as there is no bus connection in Eldris.
Charging an electric car: Available in several places in Mora.
Public transport: Not available for Eldris.
Trail information: You can refill your water bottle in Eldris.
In Mora, in addition to the Vasaloppet finish line and Vasaloppet's House, the Zorn Museum and Zorngården, which is one of Sweden's most famous artists' homes, awaits you. A hundred years ago, the Zorns home served as a hub in Dalarna's cultural life with guests such as Carl and Karin Larsson, Bruno Liljefors and Prince Eugen. Stepping into the house is like traveling 100 years back in time. Next door to Zorngården is Mora church, which is one of the most stately provincial churches with the oldest parts from the 1200s. The spire is from 1673 and 74 meters high. Right next to the church is the bell tower and shortly afterwards this walk ends.

You are not allowed to walk and cycle on private land. It is possible to camp at the cottage and along the trail, but not on private land. Fishing license via ifiske.
