Experience both beautiful surroundings and cultural history. You hike between the villages in Siljansnäs, on trails through the forest, past summer pastures, and up high with a view of Lake Siljan.
Section Stage 14 Siljansnäs - Åsengården Starting Point: Siljansnäs Church End Point: Åsengården Length: 21 km Difficulty Level: Blue, moderate Duration: 7 hours Terrain: Mostly gravel roads and forest trails. Trail Description:
The stage continues along the gravel road to Jobsarbo, and from here Romboleden and Siljansleden share the same path to Åsengården. Along the way from Jobsarbo to Åsengården, you will pass three log shelters (wind shelters) where you can take a break. It's a good idea to recharge as the trail starts to climb, first up to Hjulbäckås Ridge with magnificent views over the Siljan area. After that, it gently descends to Svarttjärn, home to perhaps the finest log shelter in the area. Take the opportunity to rest and perhaps go for a swim at Svarttjärn. Next comes – by the Siljan area's standards – a long and steep uphill climb to Åsengården.
Parking: Parking is available at both Åsengården and Olsnäsgården. Facilities:
Toilets and drinking water at Siljansnäs Church, as well as at Olsnäsgården and Åsengården.
Overnight accommodations at Olsnäsgården and Åsengården. Wind shelter by the pilgrimage chapel in Åsen.
Visit Dalarna is not responsible for the trail or its maintenance. Keep in mind that the trails are affected by the season and weather, so be sure to check conditions before embarking on your hike.
