Stroll along the streets of Älvdalen and hike through the forest on old pasture trails. From the village of Klitten, you have a panoramic view over the Österdal River. Those who begin their hike in Älvdalen face a steady uphill climb to that point and onward to Göransbodarna.

The stage offers a pleasant hike through Älvdalen’s shopping street, followed by the old road toward the village of Klitten. After that, the Romboleden trail follows the old path to the summer pastures. The trail is well-marked and equipped with shelters (windbreaks) along with outhouses for breaks at a few kilometers' intervals.
North of Klitten, Romboleden goes far from the nearest house or village. Bring a map, compass, extra food, and overnight gear. Environment/Surface: Hilly terrain with steeper sections. Gravel roads and forest paths. Transportation: The nearest bus station for the stage starting point is Älvdalen Älvdalsskolan, a 1-minute walk to the church.
No public transport is available to Göransbodarna. However, there is a network of small roads, allowing you to position a car for your return journey. Parking: Parking is available at Älvdalen Church. Facilities: Toilet and drinking water at Älvdalen Church.
About 1.5 kilometers south of Göransbodarna lies Ockelbokojan, a rest cabin with a fireplace and an outhouse.
