Trail Description:
You begin in the small village of Fliken, which was home to a furnace in the 1600s, one of the parish's largest at the time. You walk along the country road, passing beautiful old houses and farms.
You cross road 270 and arrive at the next village, Kallmora.
From Kallmora, you proceed about 1.5 km on a gravel road. At Bengtsberget, the road ends, and forest trails take over. After some time, you pass quite high above the long, narrow Djupkärra-Dammsjön, a nutrient-poor rift-valley lake. West of the lake, in the same rift valley, are several narrow rich fens with fascinating vegetation.
The hike continues through varied forest, often interspersed with rock outcrops. At Sörntjärnen, there's a lovely spot for a break. It's also nice to rest at the fishing lakes Näcktjärnen and Sköltjärnen.
Eventually, you reach the Gåsmyrberget Nature Reserve. A partly steep climb takes you up the 185-meter-high mountain. The mountain is covered in rocky pine forest, and at the top, there's an old quartz quarry. From the highest point, you enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding landscape.
From Gåsmyrberget, it's about 2 km to the stage destination at Lillsjön. At Lillsjön, there’s a large, beautiful swimming area.
Environment: The trail runs through mildly hilly terrain, and with the exception of the first few kilometers, it is solely forest trails. A rather steep ascent awaits at Gåsmyrberget.
Parking: There is ample parking at the stage endpoint, Lillsjön.
Public Transportation: You cannot reach Fliken directly by public transportation, but bus 85 runs between Kärrgruvan (2 km southeast of Fliken) and Norberg on both weekdays and weekends.
About 2 km southeast of Lillsjön, near road 68, there is a bus stop for bus 500. This bus can take you toward Avesta or Norberg – Fagersta – Skinnskatteberg – Köping. It runs on both weekdays and weekends.
Facilities:
