Primarily a hiking trail that winds through the Lugnet nature reserve. It showcases various attractions, including Högsta punkten, Lärkstugan, and takes a side trip to Kolarkojan.
Start and end location: The trail starts at the pond above the Lugnet ski stadium. Turn off the E16 in the Lugnetround and take the first exit on the left towards Skuggarvet. Then turn right onto Sjulsarvsvägen and continue until you come to a large gravel parking lot.
Length: 11 km, circular loop.
Trail marking: Marked with orange color on the trees and gray and blue signposts.
Time required: 3 hours (adult).
Difficulty: Demanding as the trail is partly hilly.
Environment: Varied surface with smaller paths, wider footpaths and exercise tracks (ski tracks in winter). Partly quite hilly. The first kilometer crosses several cycle paths and the asphalt path on Lugnet. You pass the village of Sjulsarvet and then you walk a bit on what used to be the country road between Falun and Sundborn and on to Gävle.
Electric car charging: Charging poles at the Lugnet ski stadium and outside the Lugnet Visitors Center. Also available at Scandic.
Varied nature, dry pine lands and lush fir forests. The trail also passes through pastures kept open by cows and sheep. There are plenty of rest stops on the trail. The first thing that is passed is the "Highest point", about 300 meters above sea level. Here there are two wind shelters and a very nice view. Then you come to a small rest house, Lärksstugan, which is located in a grove of larch trees. There is a barbecue area. A little further on the trail there are windbreaks, Skugge's shed and Garve's shed as well as the "Kolarkojan".
Public transport: Bus from Falu travel center stops at Lugnet sports hall. From here it is approximately 400 meters to the Bergstigen's starting point.
Direction: Parking is available at the start of the trail above Lugnet's ski stadium.
Visit Dalarna is not responsible for the trail or its maintenance. Keep in mind that the trails are affected by the season and weather, so please check the conditions before you set out on your hike.
