The region of Dalarna consists of a landscape with deep forests as well as open landscape and the beautiful mountains in the north. The variety makes Dalarna the perfect place for a round trip with different kind of experiences. There is also many lakes with nice beaches for a swim in the summer and in wintertime, when the lakes get frozen, it is possible to enjoy activities such as ice-fishing and ice-skating.
A national geopark
Siljan and the surrounding area is a national geopark with unique geological phenomena and natural value sites. Around 380 million years ago, a four-kilometre-wide meteorite hit the earth and created this area which we now call Siljansringen.
