Lake Orsasjön is a part of the Siljan ring, which was formed 365 million years ago when a large meteorite struck down east of Orsasjön / Siljan.
Description
The Kårgärde profile is located just below Folkparken Skeer, high above Orsasjön, overlooking a part of the Siljan ring. A small path leads down to the profile, where one exposes the rock layers that are evicted on the edge of the huge force of the meteorite strike. Small signs tell you where else you will find the rock layers you see. An idyllic place in the middle of the cultural landscape, perfect for a picnic.
