Gyllbergen 5 - 10 km
Borlänge, Gyllbergens naturreservatGyllbergen nature reserve is Borlänge’s largest. It measures 1020 hectares, and is a wilderness area with beautiful hiking tracks during summer and skiing tracks during winter.
Length: 5 km.
Trail marking: The hiking trails are marked in orange.
Difficulty: Easy, estimated time spent 1 hour.
Trail description: From Gyllfäbodarna, take the hiking trail up to the heights towards Fjortasjön. Stop at the second windbreak. Continue a little further and you will come to the Giant Table. Same way back.

Description: From Bergslagsplan take the hiking trail to Dragbergsstugorna. Then walk via Dragbergsgatan around to Bergslagsstugan and back to Bergslagsplan. NOTE! If you take a car to Bergslagsplan, keep in mind
that the road is bad at times.

Description: From Gyllfäbodarna, take the hiking trail up to the heights via Sara's
lake towards Dragsjön. Then the hiking trail along the gravel road back to Gyllfäbodarna. In front of Dragsjön, the trail is hilly.
In Gyllbergen there are several rest cabins and windbreaks. Here you can grill sausages and spend a night or two. Do not forget to really wear your feet because the joints are often wet.
Parking is available all year round in five places around the nature reserve; Gyllfäbodarna, Spånsfäbodarna, Långmyran and Prästbodarna. At the there are also information signs, rest cabins / overnight cabins and a dry toilet. At Gyllfäbodarna, Spånsfäbodarna and Prästbodarna there is also a windbreak with a fireplace. At Bergslagsplan there is only summer parking. Note that the rest cabins / overnight cabins are not bookable.
A folder with information about the nature reserve and a guide map can be downloaded or ordered on the county administrative board's website.The reserve was established in 1982, to protect the area from deforestation. In the area you can find 23 mountain tops at an altitude of above 400 meters. It’s because of its altitude that the forest is growing back so slowly, creating a sense of being in the mountains.
In Gyllbergen you can hike through the mires, pick cloudberries and blueberries, or just explore the rich wildlife. Bring the whole family and enjoy your coffee-break by one of the many windshelters with campfire-sites. Or you can go on a longer hike and stop at an overnight-cabin. There are a variety of different tours to choose from, just remember to bring solid shoes since the trails can be wet even in summer!

You can park your car at five places around the nature reserve; Gyllfäbodarna, Spånsfäbodarna, Långmyran and Prästbodarna. Are you interested in wildlife? Many birds flourish here, such as owls, black grouse and woodpeckers. In the spring you can see the cranes dance. Experience something unique, and stay overnight in a wind shelter. If you are lucky you can see bear, lynx, wolf or wolverine.

Drive road 50 towards Ludvika. After Lerbäcken (about 7,5km) turn right – signs towards Gyllbergen Nature Reserve. There is a large parking lot at Gylle Fäbodarna where the trails start.
