Three great locations for cross-country skiing in winter

The cross-country skiing season is something special in Dalarna, Sweden. Don’t miss your opportunity. Grab your skis nice and early and start clocking up those miles before the winter’s up. Spend a weekend skiing in Orsa, Mora or Falun and fill your memory banks with some great skiing experiences.

1. Lugnet Ski Stadium, Falun

The Swedish national arena for Nordic skiing is within walking distance of central Falun. The trail here hosts international competitions, but amateur skiing enthusiasts will also find great skiing trails in the surrounding areas.

2. Mora Park

Close to Mora town centre and right in the heart of the Vasaloppet world. Here, you can head out the front door and straight onto the Vasalopp Trail, no matter if you’re staying at the hotel, a cottage or the camping site. Follow the trail up towards the Hemus Ski Stadium where you’ll find plenty of loops to choose from, or continue on the trail towards Sälen for as long as you want – or as long as your legs can manage!

3. Orsa Grönklitt

Investing heavily in becoming the home of cross-country skiing in Sweden, Orsa Grönklitt has high-quality trails and a top-class Cross-Country Skiing Centre. Once the entire system of routes is in operation, a full 130 kilometers of well-prepared trails attract skiers to tackle the varied terrain across fens and tall slopes, and through forests.
