Silverringen - Grängshammar
Enjoy the tranquility and the beautiful slag houses in Grängshammar, one of Dalarna's most beautiful mill environments with stylish buildings built in shimmering slag chips. Grängshyttan was originally probably a silver cabin but later became best known as a cabin for smelting iron ore. Here you can see the ruins of a coal house and smithy next to the rushing water, surrounded by lush greenery. In addition, there is one of Sweden's oldest English parks dating from the end of the 18th century. Also visit Queen Kristina's riding pit in the manor park.
Description
Once in the area, also take the opportunity to take a walk down to Silvbergs church, which is beautifully situated by lake Grängen. The church, built in 1834, is original in its style, octagonal and with raised domes. Slag chips were mainly used as building material, but here the walls are completely covered with plaster in a light color.
In the summer there is a rest area with a table for a packed lunch, stop and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
