Start and end location: The tour starts with a boat trip from the jetty at Sjöstugan, Grövelsjön, Idre. Length: 9 km round trip. Altitude meters: 300 meters. Trail markings: No. Time: Approximately 3-4 hours. Severity: Moderately difficult where the trail is rocky and steep otherwise easy to walk. Environment: Lake and bare mountains with lovely views. Description: First a boat trip across Grövelsjön, keep an eye out for the German bomber that made an emergency landing on the lake during World War II. Located on the Norwegian side of the border. From the jetty in Sylen, follow the gravel road until signs to Grövelsjön and a red-marked trail begins. From here it is a shorter, rocky, sometimes steep section, but do not despair, it will soon be easy to walk. As soon as you reach the tree line, you have a nice view of the valley and Grövelån's outlet into Grövelsjön. The path is clear and takes you along Linnaeus' route back to the southern end of Grövelsjön. The hike is excellent to do in reverse order.
