Romboleden, Grangärde - Salå 21 km

This is a stage that almost continuously follows the path of water through the landscape, along rivers and elongated lakes. You walk long stretches on the sand and moraine ridge formed here during the Ice Age. By the lakes Stora and Lilla Malingen, you instead walk on the old railway embankment.

Section Stage 9 Grangärde - Salå Length: 21 km Starting Point: Grangärde Church Ending Point: Prästbuo Rest Cabin Difficulty Level: Green, an easy hiking trail also suitable for cycling. Surface/Environment: Mostly asphalt and gravel roads. This stage follows the path of the water through the landscape, along rivers and narrow lakes. You walk long stretches on the sand and moraine ridge formed here during the Ice Age. By the lakes Stora and Lilla Malingen, you instead walk on the old railway embankment. Facilities: Stay overnight at Salåkojan, a small cabin for two people. Access to water in the river next to the cabin. Purify the water at your own responsibility. A rest cabin with an outhouse is available at Flogen, about 10 km from Grangärde. Parking: Parking is available at the churches. Public Transportation: The nearest bus stop for starting the stage is Grangärde Torget, a 3-minute walk from the church. Check Dalatrafik's website for schedules.
