Park golf is a simple and healthy sport played on an open field. The only equipment needed is a club and a ball. Park golf was invented in Makubetsu on the Japanese island of Hokkaido in 1983. It is a mix between golf and croquet. The idea behind park golf was to make it simple enough for people of all ages to enjoy. The courses are relatively short, and the game is not very strenuous. Playing is also inexpensive, and the rules are straightforward. The distance between the tee and the hole should not be more than 100 meters but can be as short as desired. A 9-hole course should be 500 meters or shorter. A round of park golf generally consists of two turns on a 9-hole course.
