Section Stage 27 B Tråbacken - Krylbo
Starting Point: Tråbacken
Endpoint: Avesta Krylbo station
Length: 7.2 km
Difficulty Level:
Duration:
Trail Description:
Stage 27B is a slightly undulating but still easy-to-walk route where you mostly follow trails, as well as sections of asphalt and gravel roads.
At the beginning of the route, after approximately 600 m, you can take a detour to see bison up close. After another approximately 1 km, you will reach Dalälven and Gamla Byn. Gamla Byn consists of former worker housing with origins dating back to the 1600s. From here, you continue your hike along the so-called river promenade by Dalälven. You can take the opportunity to visit Verket/Avesta Art — a magical mix of history, art, and modern technology. The old ironworks from 1874 has been transformed from a heavy, sooty, and rumbling industrial environment into a new meeting place in the heart of Avesta, Koppardalen. Along Dalälven’s river promenade and past the intriguing dead falls, you'll reach your final destination: Avesta Krylbo station.
Surface: Natural trails, asphalt, and gravel roads.
Directions:
Parking: There is plenty of parking available at both Tråbacken and Krylbo.
Public Transport: About 1 km south of Tråbacken, you'll find Bjurfors bus stop for bus 500. It runs toward Avesta – Krylbo or Norberg – Fagersta – Skinnskatteberg – Köping.
At Krylbo, you have direct connections to both train and bus services at Avesta/Krylbo station.
Facilities:
You'll find several spots along the route to Krylbo. In Gamla Byn, there are large green areas for picnics, and along Dalälven’s river promenade, there are rest areas with opportunities for grilling.
Visit Dalarna is not responsible for the trail or its maintenance. Keep in mind that trails are affected by the season and weather, so be sure to check conditions before heading out on your hiking trip.
