Mora – Nusnäs trip
For people wondering how the famous Dala horse (carved, painted model horse) is made, this is the trip for you. This trip also has great bathing spots. The start is on the finish line of the legendary Vasaloppet ski race in the centre of Mora and if you want to know more about the race you can visit Vasaloppets Hus which houses the Vasaloppsmuseet. If you fancy a dip you can do it at Sanda Båthamn harbour, Färnäs Badplats and at Nusnäs. Nusnäs is the ancestral home of the Dala horse and here you can watch them being made, or paint your own and even buy one.

Worth a stop
Vasaloppets Hus is located close to the finish line of the Vasaloppet ski race in the centre of town. It is also home to the museum dedicated to the race where you see exhibitions about the race over the past 90 years.
Gustav Vasa statue
The statue of Gustav Vasa was made in 1903 by Swedish artist Anders Zorn in memory of Gustaf Eriksson’s speech to the men of Dalarna.

The famous symbol of Sweden, the Dala horse, is made here. Two hundred thousand of them are made here every year and sold the world over.
A beautiful village with ancient roots, just 5 km south of Mora.

- Leisure Cycling
Start in the town centre of Mora at the bell tower and ride through the finish area of Vasaloppet ski race. Cross Strandgatan (E45 European highway) and the railway. Continue along the cycle path towards Tingshusbadet. Still on the cycle path, cross over the railway again. Ride over Noretbron (bridge) that crosses Österdalälven river (2 km) and take a sharp right after the bridge along Solgårdsvägen and beneath two railway viaducts.
Follow the cycle path and cross Sandavägen. Continue on the cycle path to Gruddvägen. Stay on Gruddvägen for 3.5 km until you come to Siljanssågsvägen. Turn right into Siljanssågsvägen and cross the railway. Follow the railway line along Harviksvägen, past the wastewater treatment plant. Take a left at Färnäs Badplats (bathing spot) and follow Harbacksvägen. Take a right at Nusnäsvägen (paved road) (5.5 km) and stay on Nusnäsvägen all the way to Nusnäs (8.5 km).
Alternative route to Nusnäs (lakeside): Nusnäsvägen (7 km) – turn off down to Sionsvägen – Morängsvägen – Båthusvägen – Gambälgatu – Nusnäs village street – Edåkersvägen (Dala horse manufacturers)
To Mora through the forest, via Färnäs
Kråkdalsvägen – Lillängsvägen; after approx. 1 km turn right. Over the railway – Risåkersvägen – Långgärdsvägen – Färnäs village street – Noret.
