Burial Fields on Sollerön
Two Viking period grave fields dating from 800 to 1050 AD lie on Sollerön. Together the fields account for between 100 - 150 graves, consisting of isolated cairns, mounds and formations of stones. They are the largest assemblage of their type in Dalarna.
The first finds were made in 1921. A major excavation was carried out in 1928-29. These finds were rich and distinguished and bear witness to Sollerön being an important burial site in Viking times.
