In Södra Trollgrav's nature reserve, the hike towards Väster Trollgrav begins and an exciting hike through a ravine with steep walls.
The hiking trail runs partly through the ravine and offers an exciting hike. The trail twists its way along the creek through a deep and narrow canyon. Here the trail is well marked but sometimes difficult to reach. The trail crosses the water several times and there is no bridge. Stones and fallen trees are nature's own bridges along this trail.
The last part of the trail goes up from the canyon and over pine forests that still carry traces of the forest fires that ravaged the area over a hundred years ago. In the forest, the marking is not very clear today but it exists, see among the pictures. So be attentive.
Keep in mind that it is sometimes difficult terrain and there is no coverage on the mobile. Good shoes, common sense, a friend and first aid can be good to bring.
Length of the hike: about 5km and takes about 2-3 hours depending on pace.
Markings: The trail is marked with orange color and usually looks very good but be attentive so you see the next mark.
Map: Norstedts Sweden series 86 Särna.

About the area from the County Administrative Board The Trollegravbäcken has its run through the gorge that runs from Trolltjärn in the north to Granån at the reserve border in the south. The ravine has been eroded into the rock by freezing. The bedrock, which consists of broad-wood porphyry, is particularly sensitive to frost blasting. In the ravine the vegetation consists of a lush spruce forest with remarkably tall trees. A spruce has been reported to be 41 meters. The fir forest lacks traces of logging and forest fires. Age is estimated to be about 250 years. The moisture and the old forest in the ravine contribute to a favorable local climate for the threatened wood fungus wrinkles and rose ticks. Hässlebrodd and scales are found in the rich right-eared vegetation closest to the stream. The sides of the ravine are overgrown with pine forest which is sometimes affected by fire. Several trees have up to six fires embedded as fire sounds in the damaged bark. Some trees are very old and a pine has been age-determined to 400 years. The whole area has natural forest character with dead trees in the form of flames (lying dead trees) and dry shrubs (standing dead trees) of both deciduous and coniferous trees.
