The nature reserve consists of a gentle slope to the southwest around Storskär creek. The forest is partly primeval with old pine, but along the creeks, there are wet forest. The wetlands in the area is heavily uppflikade and there are also many small lakes. Nyängena reserve is a varied and interesting nature. In one area there is a smaller instance of the lady's slipper, which indicates that this and where is the lime presence of bedrock or soil.
