Gyllbergen nature reserve gives an impression of untouched wilderness. You can go cross-country skiing for miles without being disturbed by roads or noise.

Length: 0.6 - 20 km. Difficulty: There are both flat and hilly tracks. Starting point: Gyllfäbodarna. Track Description: Gyllbergen is very popular for cross-country skiing, both among locals and tourists. Because it’s located 497 meters above the sea there is often a lot of natural snow here during winter. There are tracks suitable for everyone, from beginners to experienced skiers, and for all ages. Many of the trails start at Gyllfäbodarna, which is also closest to Borlänge. Here you can take the easy Family Trail, or the more challenging Wilderness Trail. You can park your car at five places around the nature reserve; Gyllfäbodarna, Spånsfäbodarna, Långmyran and Prästbodarna. At the parking lot there are information signs, tourist cottages/overnight cabins and outhouses. At Gyllfäbodarna, Spånsfäbodarna and Prästbodarna there are also wind shelters with campfire sites. Please note that the overnight cabins cannot be booked in advance. A popular skiing tour goes from Gyllfäbodarna to lake Dragbergssjön and back. Bring some hot chocolate and take a break at one of the many wind shelters at the north side of the lake or take a longer break in one of the overnight cabins at the south part of the lake. West of the lake you can ski through the 400-meter-long ravine Dragbergsgatan. Keep in mind that the tracks are affected by weather conditions, so please check the conditions and track status before embarking on your ski trip.
