Beautiful church in By, about 20 km east of Avesta town. By church is a clear sign that stubbornness, cohesion, sacrifice and initiative can result in great and significant things.
Under the direction of master builder Eric Sjöström from Torsåker, most of this church was erected in the summer of 1793. The minimum construction time was only 5 months and 2 days. A real record building!
It was of course true with some modification that the whole church was finished in 20 weeks. In reality, it was, for example, unpainted for at least another 10 years. And the tower hood was only completed the year after the church's dedication, in 1794. In addition, they had actually started with the foundation in 1791 so that it would settle properly. The interim period was used to bring forward all the material.
