Bird-watching towers - Hedemora

In Hedemora there are several bird towers where you have a nice view. The Hovran area is located east of Hedemora and is probably Dalarna's most famous bird area. Fatburen is a shallow eutrophic small plain lake without reedbeds. It is easy to visit and easy to understand.

Description

Nibble, Hovran area:
After highway 70, about 1.5 km south of the roundabout "Centrum / Långshyttan". Signposted "Fågeltorn 1" and "Hovran". Follow the signs, parking is available for about 10 cars. Southern end of the nature reserve Lilla Älvgången.

The bird tower is handicapped accessible with a stepped joint of wooden construction that makes it easy to get around with a wheelchair to and up the tower. The tower is 9 meters high and the lower level is 3 meters above ground, there is a ramp.

Fågeltorn - Fatburen: Take road 270 towards Långshyttan from Hedemora. Drive about 10 km and Fatburen is located just west of the road.
The platform / tower is located at the southern end of the lake and is clearly visible when approaching the site. At the tower there is a small parking lot. Additional parking facilities are available on the other side of the road.

Fågeltorn - Sörbogrundet: At the southern roundabout after highway 70, at the entrance to Hedemora, take road 270 towards Långshyttan. After about 5 km turn right towards Garpenberg. After crossing the bridge over Dalälven, turn right towards Sörbo. Go about 3 km along the Dalälven to a T-cross, turn right and follow the sign "bird tower".

Go past one farm and continue to the next. Turn left just before the farm at the sign "Parking space", do not go up on the courtyard, then continue south of the farm, after about 200 meters there is a parking lot with space for 5-6 cars. From here you can walk to the bird tower.
